Well, this doll is all grown up and living the Bison life at NDSU now, but before that she was my birthday buddy and favorite model. Even now, I love going back to these images we got together. Simple. Small town. Sweet.

How cute are these two? These photos from (you’ve gotta be kidding me) two summers ago already just made me smile. Oh summer, where are you!
We all got spoiled. Fresh falling snow for engagement pictures? Oh, the Lord loves you two! And you love each other! My goodness! All this sure made my job easy! These two are wonderful. I can hardly wait for their wedding, and neither can they!
Little sister usually has comments. I guess this time…just this face.
Going into this I didn’t know what kind of guy Kyle is…but Bridget wasn’t surprised when his playing in the half melted stream led to him falling knee-deep through the ice. This is moments before.
This is moments after. Bridget’s face says…”oh, Kyle.”
What’s cuter than a man brushing snow off his bride-to-be’s hair? Maybe the way she adores him!
Congratulations, Bridget and Kyle! Let the countdown to September roll!
Greenbush-Middle River’s Team 5172 is back at the Duluth Robotics competition! Before I head down to the DECC to give my big sister nod to Elliot’s robotics team, I’m taking a look through my images from last year’s competition. I was absolutely not expecting it to be so huge (over 100 teams?!), to see students taking such ownership of not just their machine performance, but team branding, strategy, professionalism, and pit set up. Can I say this? I wasn’t expecting to be THAT proud of my high school brother! All in all, the schools in this competition have found it – an activity that students come alive for, a team activity that needs members from all interests and strengths to fill roles that mirror actual industry needs and occupations, and an immersion into the expo environment and professional expectations disguised as an extra curricular. And to top it off, they’re encouraging and nurturing those much needed future engineers by giving some glory to the muscles of the mind that will reward students in the long haul. Hats off!
GMR parents know how to find seats with a view.
Other teams are eager to strategize with GMR.
Everyone has a part to play. Everyone is put to work.
Last minute preparations and adjustments.
I guess not everyone is put to work…
Doug is a paternal rockstar behind the 5172 mechanics. What kids get the chance to learn this stuff alongside their parents?!
Thanks, Gators, for letting this oldie wear your media pass, get in your business, and ask a million questions! Now, I can’t wait to come see you crush it again this year! Much love.
Here’s where I rave about how gorgeous Bree is and how we saw a whole new side of Caleb when he first introduced us to his beloved, long-distance beauty, Bree. Background first: Caleb was my next door neighbor for a year, and sometimes I felt like we all were straight out of a childhood movie. The most easy-going, likable guy, who everyone loved to be around. He’d walk us home, never say a bad word about our sometimes flopped recipes, and sing his heart out on Sunday nights at the karaoke bar. The kind of friend people like me need to have – you know, consistent, even keeled. We heard about his Bree all the time, since they’d only been dating just over half a decade, and anyone that dear to someone as remarkable as Caleb had to be great. The first time she came to Duluth (he usually went to see her), we were in awe of how stunning she was, melted to see how Caleb was beaming, and tripping over ourselves all the way home gushing about how adorable they were. So here they are. Caleb and Bree.
They deserve all the credit in the world. One of those nasty cold February days.
Few photos come as naturally as for a couple that totally adores each other and waits weeks at a time to see each other. Can you see it? They finally get to be together!
They’re freezing. But beaming!
Caleb proposed with not just any ring. Passed down in the family, nothing says “you’re the one” like the timeless solitaire Caleb’s grandfather gave his grandmother. Congratulations, Caleb and Bree. I can hardly wait till August.
